NTU National Vertical Marathon 2009 (8 February 2009)
CDL renewed its support for the NTU National Vertical Marathon for the third consecutive year. The national sports event was organised by students from the Nanyang Technological University Sports Club.
In addition to sponsoring the venue, CDL sponsored the CDL Corporate Challenge category to encourage its office tenants, partners and business associates to adopt a healthy lifestyle by participating in the vertical marathon. A record total of 1,638 participants signed up for the 60-storey climb this year.

Dreams@Kolam Ayer
Trained CDL staff volunteers run weekly lessons at Dreams@Kolam Ayer, a youth development centre under Viriya Community Services in collaboration with Kolam Ayer Citizens’ Consultative Committee. The programme aims to help children at risk of delinquency or poor performing students from needy families by imparting important character attributes such as attentiveness, obedience, orderliness, truthfulness through games, role-play, storytelling, science and craft activities. Some 25 children aged between nine and 14 years benefit from this programme.
Unveiling of Maris Stella High Schools’ Pledge to the Environment

Maris Stella High School, CDL’s newly “adopted” school in the NEA Corporate and School Partnership Programme, unveiled its pledge towards the environment, in partnership with CDL. As part of the ceremony, Kois were released into the school pond to attest to the school’s commitment to the green cause as well as to raise awareness amongst the students.
Singapore Management University (SMU) Forum: "Sustainability in Action: Perspectives from Business, Education, NGO & Government

Organised by SMU students who are part of TICE (Tertiary Institution Council on the Environment), the forum was open to pre-university/tertiary students, members of business community, NGOs and representatives from government agencies. CDL was invited participate in the forum as part of the panel.

NUS CSR Awareness Week 2008

In line with its efforts to promote Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts amongst tomorrow’s leaders, CDL was a key supporter of “CSR Awareness Month” for the second year running. The event is a joint initiative of the NUS Students’ CSR Group and the MBA Students’ Corporate Ethics Focus Group of NUS Business School, and is supported by Singapore Compact for CSR.
National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA)
A long-time supporter of the National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA), CDL has been contributing significantly to many of NYAA’s initiatives that are aimed at bringing out the best in young Singaporeans. These include the NYAA Young Entrepreneurs Programme and Young Photographers Network, of which CDL’s Managing Director, Mr Kwek Leng Joo, is a Patron. In recognition of the Group’s continued partnership and generous support towards youth development, CDL was conferred The Distinguished Partner of the NYAA in 2007.

Camp SOLA

The youth at Camp SOLA enjoyed a range of interactive and exciting activities including a banana boat ride.
City Sunshine Club, CDL’s staff volunteer platform, organised a stay-in camp for youths with Camp SOLA (Stepping Out, Loving All). This was the first character-building camp organised in collaboration with trainee teachers from National Institute of Education for disadvantaged youths aged nine to 14 years old from centres managed by Viriya Community Services. Designed with the theme of “Caring”, staff volunteers facilitated activities that effectively promoted positive traits such as teamwork, trust, responsibility, compassion, care for the environment and consideration for others.
St. Nicholas Girls’ School Inaugural Environmental Day

CDL employees, parent volunteers, teachers, students and even the granny volunteers from the neighbourhood all had a hand in making the Fabric of Mother Earth project a success.
St. Nicholas Girls’ School, CDL’s newly “adopted” school in the NEA Corporate and School Partnership Programme, celebrated theor inaugural Environmental Day. CDL staff joined in the day’s events which included the unveiling of their environment project Fabric of the Mother Earth which was made up of a collage of designs using fabric to send various green messages.
Catholic High School (Primary) Earth Day Celebrations

CDL participated in Catholic High School (Primary)’s Earth Day celebration commemorated by the release of butterflies bred by their own students. To further the love of nature in the students, a Vegetable and Eco-Garden was also launched to which CDL helped sponsor some 50 tags that with detailed descriptions of the plants.

NTU National Vertical Marathon 2007

CDL staff volunteers scaled Republic Plaza together with youth from the Special Olympics.
A firm supporter of youth development, CDL contributed to the National Vertical Marathon organised by students from the Nanyang Technological University Sports Club. Held for the first time at CDL’s flagship building, Republic Plaza, and also one of the three tallest buildings in Singapore at 280 metres high, the event drew 1,629 sports enthusiasts – the largest number of participants in the event’s 13-year history. Apart from the sponsorship of the venue, CDL introduced the CDL Corporate Challenge category to encourage its office tenants, partners and business associates to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
CDL employees also banded together to lend a helping hand for the Social Olympics Challenge. Assisted by a CDL employee, each of the 36 intellectually disabled students climbed 10 storeys to complete the 60-storey relay-style ascent to the top. Six teams from various special schools such as Lee Kong Chian Gardens School and MINDS Jurong Gardens School took part in this Special Olympics Challenge.
